Introductory Courses (Embody 5 CPD points)

Sunday 28 February or Sunday 12 September 2010     10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

You will learn how to massage the feet, legs and back with various techniques including gentle muscle stretching similar to yoga, thumb pressure similar to acupressure and rythmic palm pressure for relaxation.

These Practical Hands On Courses are designed to give you a comprehensive flavour of Thai Massage. All are welcome including beginners, yoga teachers  or qualified therapisits wishing to add to their present skills.

You will practice and receive a short massage routine to practise on friends and family.

It is recommended to attend an Introductory Day prior to the Diploma Course.

The course consists of 72 hours of comprehensive training. All are welcome including beginners, yoga teachers  or qualified therapisits wishing to add to their present skills.

The course is mainly practical and demonstrations will be followed by supervised practice. Emphasis is placed on use of the practitioner's bodyweight, correct positioning/movement and to work in a sympathetic style with awareness of their client's reaction.

The course content has been developed from traditional northern style techniques. Courses are accredited with Embody Complementary Therapists Association (CThA).

Class sizes are small to enable students to benefit from individual attention from Christine.

Home study and practice will be required including 30 case studies. It will be necessary to complete an Anatomy and Physiology course before a certificate can be given. Please e mail Christine for details.

After successful completion of the Diploma Course and Anatomy & Physiology students will be fully qualified Thai Massage Practitioners and be able to obtain insurance become a member of Embody Complementary Therapists Association (CThA).

Syllabus:  History and spiritual aspects of Thai Massage. Rules, Methods and Techniques,  Benefits of Thai Massage, Client Management, Contra-indications and Cautions, Code of Ethics, Health and Safety and First Aid, Hygiene.  Sen Energy lines. Rhythmic palm and thumb pressure.  Applied yoga stretching, balance and smoothness.  Sensitivity to client.  Over 3 hours of massage techniques.  How to decide on your treatment and give a complete massage in 1 ½ hours. Techniques to relieve headaches, back neck and shoulder pain. Client Consultation and case studies.
